Background
After getting my PhD in mathematics from University of California, San Diego, I worked in software as a designer for an educational technology company. After a couple years, I began to miss the challenge of difficult technical problems, and decided to pursue software development. Since then, I've attended App Academy, a 3-month coding intensive, and am now reentering the field as a software developer.
Projects & Technologies
My favorite technologies are Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Javascript, SQL and React.js. Runners up are Java, Python, and a little bit of R. My portfolio includes:
- RocketRide, a fictional rideshare app for space travel. Built with Ruby on Rails and React.js.
- Langton's Ant, a cellular automaton build with Javascript and the HTML Canvas library.
- Chess, including an AI player, written in Ruby and meant to be played in the console.
What I'm Looking For
I'm currently seeking a position as a software developer in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm open to working anywhere in the stack, preferably in a company that's having a meaningful, positive impact in our society. New technologies are exciting, and any connection to math and/or math education is awesome.
